ChristianaCare is hiring a part-time Registered Dietitian at our Newark campus and cross-coverage to our campus at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.As a Registered Dietitian, you would maintain/improve the nutritional status of patients by assessing nutritional risk, evaluating nutritional requirements, developing care plans, providing nutrition education, and evaluating patient nutritional outcomes.This position covers various floors including med/surg, ICU, stepdown, and more and 28 hours weekly.Responsibilities:Identifies and prioritizes patients requiring nutrition intervention and education based upon nutrition screening protocols.Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to interpret clinical data obtained from medical records. Evaluates patients’ nutritional status correctly and assigns appropriate risk levels. Develops nutritional goals and provides appropriate care to age specific populations and patients at nutritional risk.Develops nutritional care plans for patients on parenteral nutrition.Develops care plans for patients on enteral nutrition.Participates in the formulation, implementation, and compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards related to the nutritional management of patients.Completes productivity reports and special assignments in a timely and accurate manner.Consults and makes recommendations to outpatient nutrition programs and agencies responsible for home or institutional care of patients following discharge.Plans and presents nutrition in-services for departmental and medical staff as assignedActively represents Food and Nutrition Services on committees as assigned.Provides recognition to peers, and Patient Service Team staff for excellent service when observed.Helps support student interns.Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.Demonstrates compliance with ChristianaCare and departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance, and dress code.Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition required. Master’s degree in food and nutrition preferred.Experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute care facility preferred.Knowledge of supplemental nutritional products.Special Requirements:Registration status as a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. ASPEN Certification as a Nutrition Support Dietitian within three years of hire (one time).
