This Nurse Practitioner (Inpatient and Ambulatory) will be responsible for:Inpatient Responsibilities:Performs a complete history and physical exam and interprets findings.Diagnoses and manages common clinical problems of the identified patient populationPlans, implements, and evaluates the treatment plan in an interdisciplinary manner.Orders and interprets diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions necessary to augment the patient's physical findings and treatment plan. Communicates these findings to the health care team, patients, and families.Participates in discharge planning with the health care team.Writes orders, prescriptions, and progress notes in the patient medical record. Dictates patient discharge summaries, and communicates to the primary care providers.Participates in the daily patient care rounds, interdisciplinary conferences, and teaching activities of the service.Communicates the patient's condition and plan of care to the patient and family. Engages in health teaching and counseling with the patient and their family in collaboration with the health care team.Performs selected diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.Participates in formal and informal teaching activities with staff nurses, physicians, interns and residents, and other members of the health care team.Communicates clearly and concisely with the health care team and appropriately consults and utilizes resources to meet the patient's needs.Maintains clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities, and self-evaluation.Ambulatory Responsibilities:Supporting the Urologist-of-the-Week (UOW) through triaging and managing clinical inquiries via Epic in-basketCompleting comprehensive chart reviews and summaries for patients undergoing evaluation for a second opinionCovering urgent clinic appointments on an as needed basisCovering General Urology clinic on an as needed basisPerforming in-person post-operative visitsWriting orders and prescriptionsReviewing and signing prior authorizations, letters of medical necessity, durable medical equipment scriptsCompleting peer-to-peer reviewsEngaging in health teaching and counselingCollaborating with an interdisciplinary teamCommunicating clearly and concisely with the healthcare team, patients, and familiesMaintains clinical competency and ongoing professional development through continuing education, professional activities, and self-evaluationsAbility to work at the Boston Children's Hospital Urology Satellites as needed.Working 20 hours per week To qualify, you must have:Master’s Degree in NursingCertification as a Pediatric Nurse PractitionerLicense to practice as an NP in Massachusetts1-3 years of PNP experience preferredPrevious ICU or inpatient surgical experience preferred**Sign-on bonus of $2,500.00 for part-time (20 hours) NP hires (who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)Boston Children’s Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits including flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes.
