Per Chapter 143.023 of the Texas Local Government Code: A person may not take an entrance examination for a beginning position in the fire department unless the person is at least 18 years of age but not 36 years of age or older. A person may not be certified as eligible for a beginning position in the fire department if the person is 36 years of age or older.
Minimum requirements:
Fifteen (15) accredited college credit hours OR Two (2) years of full-time active military service with an honorable discharge as stipulated on a DD214 Member 4  Certified Applicants: Must meet one of the above requirements and have active Fire and EMT Certifications
Applicant must meet the above requirements by the Civil Service Exam date. Participates in classroom lectures, seminars, and practical training sessions as directed by the Houston Fire Department. Receives and participates in various types of training in fire suppression and emergency medical services up to and including paramedic certification. Participates in drills, demonstrations, and instruction in hydraulics, pump operation, maintenance, fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services. Qualifications: Immunizations/shot records will be required prior to starting the training academy. The minimum passing score is 70 percent on the written examination before the extra five (5) points for qualified veterans are added. Per Chapter 143.025of the Tex. Loc. Gov’t Code, an additional five points shall be added to the examination grade of an applicant who served in the United States armed forces, received an honorable discharge, and made a passing grade on the examination. Applicants who are eligible for extra military points must scan and attach a copy of their DD214 (Member-4) to their electronic application or send a copy to hfdhiringprocess@houstontx.gov. The last day to submit a DD214 is the date of the Civil Service Exam. No DD214s will be accepted at the test site. Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Medical Technicians Certification as a Paramedic will be subject to verification by the Human Resources Department. An applicant may not take the examination for an eligibility list more than once. The eligibility list created as a result of this examination will be effective for a period of not less than 6 months or more than 12 months as determined by the Civil Service Commission. Passing applicants will be referred to the Human Resources Department Classified Careers & Services Division to continue processing. Any falsification in the application process will result in disqualification. Primary job function is working on various types of railcars, barges and above ground storage tanks. Tasks include cleaning and washing railcars using high pressure equipment, product removal, performing minor maintenance repairs and/or parts replacement. Must be willing to follow customer, company, FRA, and AAR guidelines. We are a national mobile service company. Traveling locally and nationally will be required at times, and may spend nights in a hotel.
Experience not required; However, the ideal candidate will have experience in the industrial cleaning industry or experience in the Rail/ Barge and above ground storage tanks. Minimum 5-day work week subject to required overtime, on-call, and alternate shifts that may include weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties: Have a thorough knowledge of components on METRO’s revenue vehicles and their proper function as required for selected job classification. Show a proficient knowledge and use of test equipment and specialized tools related to selected classification requirements. Independently diagnose and repair all defects to completion in a timely manner under the supervision of a Mechanical Foreman. Perform duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. The specific job classification level will be determined on qualifications and experience.  Performs Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on revenue fleet. Inspects and/or test and observe defective equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions of major components and complete assemblies. Performs diagnosis and repair of air brake systems, suspension, steering and alignment. Proper use and interpretation of laptop computer and related software. Must be able to read and interpret refrigerant, hydraulic, and pneumatic pressure gauges and understand the proper use of battery/ charging system analyzers. Services and diagnose electrical systems utilizing test instruments such as laptop computer, ID Reader/ Writer and able to read ladder logic charts. Assists in the servicing and diagnosing of exhaust after-treatment systems and electronic engine controls. Inspects and verifies dimensions, clearances, and torque of part fasteners to ensure conformance to factory specifications. Road tests vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Completes all required reports and records in a timely and accurate fashion. Assists in work direction with mechanics as assigned. Participates in on-going training in accordance with METRO’s Maintenance Training Program. Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. San Jacinto College Central Pasadena Campus is hiring an Energy Management Systems Manager for daily monitoring of Building Automation Systems, and to coordinate response to comfort concerns, provide analysis and administration of all assigned Energy Management projects and functions.
Duties include but are not limited to: Monitor the general operation of the Building Automation Systems to ensure proper operability and minimum energy consumption levels. Respond to occupant  comfort  concerns  while  ensuring compliance with campus climate guidelines. Review all monthly utility billing for accuracy. Identify, investigate, and report on all anomalies in water, gas, and electricity consumption. Provide monthly and quarterly reports on energy metrics at the individual and building level with weather normalized comparison per square foot. Manage ENERGY STAR and other Energy Benchmarking portfolios as assigned. Assist the conduct or coordinate facility site visits, retro-commissioning efforts, and ASHRAE audits (Level I & II). The HVAC Journeyman is expected to maintain and repair HVAC equipment in the district. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimum efficiency and extend equipment life. Also, perform HVAC installation, repair and maintenance as needed. Perform preventive maintenance work as required and in the priority directed. Support and adhere to the College Safety Program. Maintain quality standards as set by the District. Check and test control circuits; check and test pneumatic control systems; diagnose HVAC problems and remove, repair and replace faulty parts.
