Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.  Additional vocational/training in heavy duty vehicle maintenance and supplementary training in body repair, transmissions, welding, electrical and/or air conditioning preferred. Minimum of 5 years extensive diesel-powered bus maintenance experience including direct mechanical/journey experience.  2 years previous lead/supervisory experience, or successful completion of the Career Advancement Program (CAP) is required. Supervisory experience in a mechanical maintenance/shop environment is preferred. Good communications (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills. Good decision making and organizational skills. General knowledge and use of part books and maintenance manuals. Familiar with labor relations/union agreements and related procedures. Basic knowledge of personal computers and related software. A valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License with a P (passenger endorsement) is required for the job and must meet METRO’s requirements regarding motor vehicle records. The ability to drive any Authority owned vehicle. Able to maintain or obtain additional certifications/licenses as required. Applicants must successfully pass a reading, math, and mechanical assessment prior to interview.
