SummaryPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Professional Practice Operations will directand overseebusiness and operational activities for all areas of the Department of Critical Care Medicine and Hospital Medicine. Efforts support the delivery of the highest quality, most efficient, and cost-effective patient care possible in compliance with hospital policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines. On a regular and continuous basis, exercises autonomous administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service of CCM / Hospital Medicine programs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:OPERATIONS:Responsible for maintaining day to day operations of assigned areas. Ensure effective operations of all Divisions and service areas.Oversees and manages identified activities and initiatives related to strategic aims and objectives for CCM/Hospital Medicine.Hires and oversees manager team to ensure effective and efficient operations.Evaluates operational needs of assigned areas including, but not limited to, infrastructure, staffing, and technology. Leverages best practice metrics to evaluate whenever possible.Oversees accounts receivable and payable functions for the department to ensure accurate invoice coding and timely processing.Manages/approves and processes payroll for the department including the reporting of employee attendance concerns in accordance with hospital policy.Evaluates and revises guidelines for clinical practice, policies, procedures, protocols, etc. that are in alignment with evidence-based care.Develops and maintains administrative policies and procedures. Orients and trains assigned staff on policies, procedures and processes.Oversees or performs staff hiring, establishment of performance objectives and assessment, appropriate implementation of Hospital Human Resources policies, and maintenance of good staff relations; facilitates the mentoring of staff to assure professional growth.Identifies specialty needs for services provided and coordinates the provision of those services.Enforces and adheres to all Hospital policies.Participates in the development and maintenance of departmental quality and performance improvement initiatives.Ensures JCAHO and CMS related compliance standards are followed.PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:Establishes and implements systems to monitor and improve key clinical, operational, satisfaction, quality, and financial metrics.Collaborates with physicians and staff to direct the performance improvement process for CCM/Hospital Medicine operations within Inpatient and Outpatient settings.Monitors performance of division/department/service area and oversees or performs data collection and reporting on divisional activities and performance.Analyzes information and implements appropriate improvements.Ensures that Joint Commission standards and all regulatory requirements are followed.
Leads initiatives to improve overall revenue cycle management.Identifies opportunities to improve client satisfaction and implements improvement activities.Directs quality control monitoring and identifies improvement opportunities/facilitates implementation.FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:Directs budgeting and budget monitoring/corrective action process to ensure targets are met.Prepares annual operating and capital budgets; approves purchases, monitors expenditures and independently resolves discrepancies; reports monthly variances and action plan for the Department.Directs, prepares, or oversees the preparation of complex statistical analysis of physician activities from multiple areas and sources using spreadsheet software; identifies trends relative to indicators; monitors physician expenses.Leads Divisions and Department in a cost-effective manner, with focus on operational expenses and capital.Continually manages performance against fiscal plan. Identifies major budget variances and financial trends. Develops financial projections.Recommends areas of savings for revenue enhancement. Ensures compliance with provider/program billing and coding. Identifies opportunities for appropriate expense reduction, as well as opportunities for enhanced collections.Develops business plans for proposed and existing programs in collaboration with finance and Departmental leadership.PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:Along with CCM/Hospital Medicine and Physician Enterprise leadership, promotes program enhancement and development.Explores and implements new potential programs to drive volume/revenue enhancement.Evaluates existing programs and services. Leads staff in identifying patient needs, and supports design of new or revised delivery/operational practices.Participates in development and implementation of program marketing plans and strategic planning as necessary.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:Enhances professional development of self and encourages for team members.Identifies training opportunities for team membersFacilitates and participates in development activities for self and staffContinually evaluates existing services and identify new program opportunities.Maintains high quality and image in all programs and services.Serves as a mentor and promotes professional development of team members.In collaboration with managers, identifies educational needs of staff, establishes goals, provides training opportunities, and directs to appropriate resources for professional growth.Oversees the documentation of training events and regular staff competencies.Seeks outside training to enhance knowledge and skills.MANAGEMENT:Ensures ongoing focus of practice on key strategic initiatives and goals.Through the creation and management of operational dashboards the administrator will standardize operational activities across all locations.Ensures ongoing focus and attention to departmental key objectives of experience, safety, access and employee engagement.Reports on all departmental KPIs including overseeing all revenue cycle teams to ensure departmental goals are met on an annual basis.Participates in the planning and oversees the execution and issue resolution associated with administrative team members and functions.Develops and negotiates contract proposals.LEADERSHIP:Acts as key leader within systemCCM/Hospital Medicine functional area.Works as collaborative member of the clinical team to ensure quality services and patient care operations.Serves as program representative on applicable organizational committeesEvaluate and lead initiatives that impact CCM/Hospital Medicine and organization at largeOversees onboarding activities associated with all Departmental employees including, but not limited to, orientation, health screenings, payroll, benefits, technology and general human resource functions. Ensures all employee files are appropriately maintained as per hospital policy.Act as a champion for all administrative initiatives including process and position changes.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Seasoned professional knowledge; equivalent to a Master's degree; knowledge in more than one discipline.Master’s prepared in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field.7+ years of experience.MGMA, ACHE, Lean preferred.Additional Information As one of the largest health care providers in Maryland, with 13,000 team members, We strive to CARE BRAVELY for over 1 million patients annually.
